Return

Monday, July 21st, 2008

It was an interesting weekend. We’re all back at our homes and are—maybe—slipping back into our daily routines. Personally I feel wholly affected by this weekend, to be sure, it’s in an extremely positive way.

While we didn’t get the results we were aiming for, I feel strong that we all learned a lot about ourselves, about the race, and most importantly, about what to do and not to do next year and in other similar events; we’re all ready and willing to support Daniel in future races.

Arrival

Friday, July 18th, 2008

So far we’ve made it to Oregon after sleeping in a church parking lot and waking up to get legal registration tabs on the support vehicle at last minute. It was a late start leaving Seattle, and arriving in Vancouver at 2:00 am, wired on cocao nibs proved a difficult night’s sleep wedged in the van or out in the grass.

Diesel is expensive, but in a car that burns 1000 miles to the gallon, it works. We’re not sure how the other teams are doing it with their multitude of conversion vans and pick-ups.

The support vehicle is getting last minute safety preparations done to it and so far we’ve tested the auxiliary support scooter.

Soon we’re going to initiate intimidation tactics to the field of competition while the vehicles pass their inspection.

Stay in tune for more updates… and photos here….

Nice Write Up

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

The RAO blog just made a post about the solo racers. Good to see what Daniel’s gonna be up against.

Daniel got a nice, but short, write-up himself:

114 Daniel Olsen – Seattle, WA – Daniel has a great website which I urge you to visit. Olsen is competitive and is coming to race. I know very little about this racer other than he’d make me nervous if I was acing against him.

Rock!
